Un’ombra

In Venice un’ombra means a glass of wine between meal or with cicchetti. It also means a shadow. And origins of expression come from time when there were wine sellers at St. Marks square and they moved along with the shadow of the Bell Tower of St. Marks. So having a glass of wine in shade has transformed to a very apt expression un’ombra.

I was lucky to be here at right time to capture a nice shadow in front of the oldest and popular ciccheteria Cantina Do Mori. So many things with timing, place and meanings just aligned beautifully.
